    OpenAI vision extracts visible text, country, denomination, year, mint mark, and apparent condition from both photographs. If that first reading is incomplete, Coin Signal retries once automatically.

    Search Numista

    Those structured clues become a normal search against Numista’s catalogue API. The photographs themselves are not sent to Numista.

    Use an official fallback

    If Numista has no price rows, Coin Signal follows official references such as PCGS and searches reputable auction records. Guide values and actual sales remain clearly separated.

    Separate the unknowns

    Identity, authenticity, and valuation receive separate confidence labels. High-stakes details—cleaning, damage, rare varieties, and authenticity—still go to a human expert.
